Anybody out there have any experience with p1698?

-No CCD/J1850 messages received from the electronic
transmission control module (EATX) or the Aisin
transmission controller

It looks like people who had remote start installed or have been messing with the starter lately get this one. I don't have remote start and haven't touched the starter, ever. The little square that highlights what gear you're in isn't showing up on the shift indicator. P R N D 2 1 is lit up, just no box.



I'm hoping for a wire harness that got unplugged or a fuse or relay burned up. So far I haven't seen anything obvious. Any wisdom to help me get back on the road would be very much appreciated.

 

Well, here's how I fixed it, in case anybody else has this come up. I cleaned up all the grounds I could find, and reset the PCM 6 or 7 times. It's been a couple weeks now and the everything is back to normal. At one point the check engine light would stay on, but wouldn't give me a code. I was doing some other weird stuff.

From what I can gather, the p1698 could be triggered by about a million different things. ABS module, TCM, PCM, stop lamp switch, ignition switch, etc. etc. etc.
