ok im starting to hear alot of metallic clanks when i turn the wheel now and im getting for turn in the wheel before the truck actually starts to move in said direction. does this mean that my rack and pinion is pretty much done?

i need to get this fixed asap. so is doing the job myself possible? i know id have to get it alligned asap. but is this somethign i can do or should i have a shop do

 

well good news i found out what the problem is. the mount bushings for the rack and pinion feel apart and the nut on one side actually came off so the WHOLE rack and pinion moves around when turning. Gettign more bushing later today hopefully
