2000 durango
i have a 2000 dodge durango 4.7 {170 xxx }starting to sputter like a gas cart has a loss of power and shakes getting awful gas mileage worst than usually this all happened from night to day. I got the codes read and it said miss firing cylinder #2 and o2 sensor so i changed the coil pack and spark plug on #2 no change .Ran a fuel cleaner just to see if it was the fuel injectors nothing . Took it to a mechanic and he wanted to charge me 100 dollars to run a compression test. when you unplug the right bank coils it changes little to nothing on the left bank it will start to die out. The mechanic said if it was a compression issue he would charge me 1000 dollars to redo the cylinder heads on the right bank. but he also said it could be a timing issue but run the compression test to verify. please help me i want my truck back but don't know what to do any ideas ?
First check for injector pulse on that injector. Take a test light and probe the two terminals on the connector that connects to the injector, disable the ignition so the engine doesnt start, and have someone crank the engine while you probe the connector with the test light. The test light should blink. If not its a wiring issue, but if you have pulse its the injector. You need to loosen the 2 bolts holding the rail on and you should then be able to pull on the injectors to pop them out and with the fuel injectors free from the intake you can remove it from the rail. I would even take the other rail off and inspect all of the injectors. Maybe remove them all and take a rag with some carb cleaner and clean the pintle if they are dirty. Remember to get new o rings for the injectors before re installing them or you might develop a leak. I dont suppose you have axcess to a scan tool that can perform an injector balance test?
