If all the seals are good then it should only come out the plug whole when it is full... i remember once on mine i had some fluid splattered across at top over the axle and it looks to be a leaking pinion seal that turned out to be a bad wheel seal that was leaking and was getting flung everywhere..

Pinion flange had a huge groove in it. That was most likely causing the leak. Put a speedi-sleeve on it.
