Left Front Noise Hub Bearing??
2003 Dodge Durango 4.7L 4x4 SLT: I have symptoms which are classic for a hub bearing but it is not the hub bearing. The vehicle exhibits a groaning sound from the left front and disapears when i'm turning right. I replaced the Hub Bearing (purchased online and rebuilt) twice. I assumed I received a bad rebuilt bearing and received a second (same issue). Don't think it is brakes in that the sound goes away when turning right. Any ideas???
could be the other hub bearing, when you shift weight onto the left bearing (turning right) that should increase the nose as you are loading up the bearing, reducing the load should decrease the noise (right turn unloads right bearing as weight shifts to the outside of the turn)
Same thing happened to me, I replaced the side I thought was bad. Noise was still there, took the old one I thought was bad and put it on the opposite side. Fixed the problem it was the hub I thought it wasn't.
I replaced my driver side hub when I did the ball joints and tie rods...never did have a hum or a drone noise, mine is a constant knock...when I turn to the left, it gets louder, if I keep the steering cocked to the right, next to no noise...I have had the front completely off the ground and everything is tight, I even re-torqued everything...only part left to replace is CV shaft...
