Default *sigh* Help with my Problem Child Please

I apparently have bought someone else's problem, however, I am determined that once it is all said and done, I will have a fully functional much loved Durango. But, I am not a mechanic, but like to have an idea of what to look for. Electrical crap is not my thing. I read the sticky, but as I said, I am not even an amature, I am lower than that. Ok, so here goes....

I have a 2002 Durango 4.7L. I have pretty much bought every replacement part and am now having yet another issue. My rear window wiper, and the entire control panel (fog lights, rear defroster, etc) does not work. There are no lights (Headlights Work, fog lights do not) nothing. The heat works, but that is it. AND, the left side speakers quit working. All these things DID work. What are the chances this is a short or the harness? Already checked all the fuses, they are fine.

Thanks for your patience and understanding.

Sounds like it could very well be a CTM problem. I dont believe that it is the harness. Is your battery been load tested good? Bad batteries can cause all kinds of weird issues with our Durango's. Hope this helps.

Thank you for replying!

At the risk of sounding stupid... what is a CTM?

I have a new battery, but I haven't put it in yet. So, maybe that will do the trick. I know I have a vaccum hose leak, but that controls the heating system.

I keep getting told that Durangos are nothing but problems, and I really really hope that once I fix this up, that I do not have ongoing problems with it.

whoever told you durangos are nothing but trouble has obviously never owned one, mine has 116k miles on it and has only had 2 or 3 problems that werent caused by the user (my parents owned it before me)

The CTM is the central timer module which is under the dash. It controls lights, alarm, most anything interior(considering fuse panel is attached). At least on my 03 it is. And like Sharps said, they are good vehicles as long as they are maintained. There are a couple problems with them as any vehicle regardless of manufacturer. Mine has 104,000 on it and I have only replaced the resistor for fan speed and ball joints per recall besides regular servicing of fluids and replaced the brakes.

I am relieved to hear the good stuff about the Durangos, I just think that, like I said, I bought someone's neglect and now I have to fix it. SO... thank you all for your positivity.

Panel is fixed, there was a wire off or something like that.
