Ok guys, lets get down and dirty on the actual differences of these two beasts. I got two many mods. to even mention in my SLT, and I know my truck is one bad a##. It throws you in your seat and numbs your stomach. But I've been doing some investigations and really cant find anything different. So break out your guns.

I think the SLT will take the R/T no question asked if it is a 2WD and at least come with 3:73 gearing. Lighter weight and rear wheel launch.
4WD SLT part time, it'll be a close but may lose to the R/T but not by much.
Otherwise, if you modded a 2WD SLT, it'll move without all that unneccessay weight of the extra transfer case and front axles.

've got a part time 4X4. It has 5 shifting selections. I also have the 3:92 gearing. When I step on the gas I brake my 31-10.5-15 tires loose. And when I shift my trans. hits beautiful and will chirp the tires. he only thing I haven't bought yet is my hypertec III reprogrammer. Is the throttle body the same on a R/T or is it bigger?

I am pretty sure that the 5.9 and its components are pretty much identical to the SLT and the R/T. Just the PCM tweaks on the R/T give it a little more power.ORIGINAL: hydrashocker

If you get a Hypertech III programmer and really tweak out your 5.9, no doubt it'll beat a stock R/T. I am about to get my hypertech III programmer for my 2000 R/T in October and see how much more performance I can get out of it. Mainly buying it so I can run unleaded fuel for a while. I can't keep paying for that high priced premium gas anymore!
