New Question 01 Durango
Well, took the Durango for another little drive this morning after finishing my rear end project....Still seems good as far as all that goes...But I pulled it back in the garage when I got back, and got down to look undernethe it to check my work for leaks, and noticed about a cup of engine oil on the floor under the engine. Turns out, sometime between pulling in my driveway, and shutting it off in the garage, the oil filter got a hole in it. Looks like someone fired at it with a BB gun. Checked the oil level and thankfully it wasn't down anything significant. All I need is a new filter (might as well change the oil right away) and it's good to go. But why on earth would my oil filter suddenly have a hole in it? Thought maybe a rock flew up and hit it, but with the plastic "skidplate" that's covering all that, I don't see how that would be possible. Anyone else ever have this happen on an oil filter?
I'll try to crop down my picture so I can post in on here....looks like the filter rusted through in a few spots and got a hole in it. Doesn't make sense to me because I changed the oil and filter about a month ago before I started tearing the rear end apart.
