It's been awhile since I posted here on this but I just checked again and I am still able to turn the front shaft but I did not see any movement on the axles or cv area.

I have not driven her in a month and I am missing it badly. With the drive shaft like this is the shaft itself that needs replacing or something inside the case or differential?

And when I was driving her I didn't notice any difference in the sound with turns.

Just to double check something, months now down the road and it's looking like I may be able to replace the tcase. How do I know which one I have? I took a pic and it says 242 D. I do not know if it is the NV or the NP 242, how do I tell the difference?

OK I have been working on getting the case dropped and swapped out. Can anyone offer me tips on getting the tops nuts where it mounts up to the tranny free?

I'm seriously disappointed that we don't have more forum members here willing to help out. Maybe another bump will help get people reading.

NO! Never put dexron in anything on your truck!

Yep, atf+4 only in the transfer case and transmission.

As for the np vs nv I'm almost positive they should be interchangeable as long as they came off another Dodge 44/46re.

I am now down to two damn nuts on this thing and cant reach them to be able to get them off. Even with the hiccups it's a relatively easy process once you have everything.

Question when I removed the rear drive shaft there was fluid leakage from the back of the tcase. Is this normal and do I need to worry about it when I finally get the tcase removed and dropped from the transmission?

Maybe a long extension and a universal joint on the end?

Considering it had been six months since his last post, that argument is invalid.
