I got a 98 Durango on the cheap. Needs an engine 5.2. Found a good 5.9 on c-list cheap. From what I can tell they are the same eng. externally. Was wondering if any one has swop one for the other with good results. This D is going to be a spare (back up) D. So im keeping it on the cheap. Did not find any good 5.2 in my area. Thanks mike.

 

Get the engine, probably the transmission, you could use your trans. but the 5.9 used a heavier duty one. Also make sure you get the computer, other than that it should be a pretty straight forward change out, as externally the engines are really the same.

 

To my understanding you would need the engine and the torque converter from the donor. Something with the 44RE and the 46RE TC's are balanced differently. I am sure Master Tech could verify this for us when he sees it or you could PM him.
