Default P0123 code question

I have a 2003 Dodge Durango 2wd with the 5.9L. The only trouble code that I am getting is the P0123 which is throttle position sensor circuit, high input. I checked voltage on wires going to the sensor and my Chilton service manual said I should be getting approximately 5.0 volts my reading was 5.14 volts. The symptoms that I am dealing with is I have no cruise control and the transmission will not go into over drive and sometimes when at idle the engine dies but starts right back up. I bought a throttle position sensor from O'Rielly and installed it but the wire harness plug would not lock on to the new sensor so I put the old one back on. I am going to get one from a dealership tomorrow. I have read through this forum extensively and have read about the clock spring going bad. Could this be my problem or do you think the OEM TPS will solve my problem? Any and all help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I got the new TPS from the dealership today and installed it. Reset the PCM and still have the same P0123 code and same symptoms. I'm stumped now. I guess my next step is to carry it to someone unless anyone on here has any suggestions. Thanks in advance.

I had the same run a round same code 2 years ago from my 97 Cherokee's 4.0 inline. I did SO much to it chasing that code I don't remember what fixed it. I know that a new clockspring did not. did u clear codes after replacing TPS?
