Default New Tires

So I am getting some new tires on my D. 2001 4.7 SLT+ the originals were 265/70 R16 but the previous owner replaced with 235/70 R16. What should I replace with? 235's are cheaper and I hear I will get better gas mileage out of them compared with the 265? mostly just interstate and city driving.

The 235's will be cheaper and also get you better gas mileage (less tire contacting the road creates less rolling resistance and increases fuel economy). Overall its just an aesthetic thing, for me I like the look of a wider tire and am willing to trade off the fuel economy for the way it looks on the truck. Best of luck with whatever you choose to go with!

I would not do this. If you make sure the load rating will work for the weight of the Durango with the 235's

I ended up going with the 265 tires. They do look a whole lot better than the 235s that were on there.

smaller tires DO NOT necessarily mean better MPG it depends on how its driven and overall gearing. I have seen larger diameter tires = better mileage
