2000 Durango, fobs stop working, engine cranks, won't turn over
I have a 2000 Durango. Has been driving great. Yesterday, I got home, went to lock up, and my fobs will not lock it. I tried to restart the engine, and it quits after a few seconds. I have lights, and radio. I disconnected the battery last night and let it sit.
Today, I cleaned the terminals, replaced with new quick connects. I also put new batteries in the fobs (correctly). Fobs still won't lock or unlock, engine cranks, but will not start. I have lights, and radio.
I have to use the key to lock and unlock the doors. The auto lock button inside won't lock or unlock the doors.
I ran the P code test, and it says P done, no errors. My dash only has the gate open light on it, no other warnings lights (gate isn't opened).
Could this be a fob/security system issue? Any suggestions what to do next? Full tank of gas.

Yes, this is a security problem. However the gate being "open" won't stop the fobs from working, or the truck from running. Try leaving the key in the on position (not start) for 10 min or so, and watch how the security light acts. I do believe when it goes from solid to flashing (after 10 min) it means it's reset, turn the key off, and then try starting the engine.
If that doesn't work, you'll have to wait for someone who can diagnose the security system for you to chime in. It's a GM trick and I'm not sure if it works like that on the Dodges as well since I've never had a Dodge do that to me unless I was using the un-chipped key

Agreed^ The motor is starting then shutting down because the alarm is somehow activated, it's trying to stop you from stealing it lol. Mine is a little finicky too. If I drive, the automatic locks lock the doors, then I stop, get out and lock all the doors with auto lock(not the fob), then the alarm will sound IF I try and open it from the drivers side with the key. If I open from the passengers, it will be fine. However, if I unlock and lock all the doors by hand when I get out, the alarm isn't activated.
Moral of all that bs is that some strange things can set it off and keep it from starting. Try a variety of combinations like I mentioned, it won't solve the problem is it might make it drivable

CTM is bad. Replace with used unit (will require re-programing of all key fobs. Local dealer wanted $60 per fob. Colorado dealer did all for $25. Shop around)
www.car-part.com is where I got my Jeep TCM upgrade for $45 shipped.. you should find a CTM for cheaper there too.
