Default tire plus vs p0440

soo my durango had the code when i bought it, i took it to tire plus for them to fix it and, they checked and i did have a leak and they replaced hoses and pump. i took the truck 2 days late code popped up again. i took it back and they said solenoid must be bad soo they replace that, i took the truck back and 2 days later again the code came up. gonna take it back in 20 min see what type of bull**** they tell me now.

Tires + your Dango = recheck.

P0440 is termed as General Evap System Failure. Which means SOMETHING is preventing the PCM from even beginning to run the EVAP monitor, whether is be an external leak, internal leak or a bad NVLD switch..even charcoal in the lines.

In my environment, I can force run the monitor BEFORE the customer leaves the shop....which means essentially no rechecks.

mmm ... why you keep going there?
it would be easier to help you if you tell us year and engine model

first of all check your EVAP hoses, its the easier stuff to do

idk, i had money to throw away i guess but they changed all the hoses, they said pump needed to be changed also, on 2nd visit they changed solenoid, i just gave it back to them and they were gonna check it again.

Sounds like it would have been cheaper to take it to a real mechanic rather than someone that just throws parts at it till something sticks.

update- after them calling me for pick up , i went and they said they fixed it. "for the 3rd time... " i asked what was the problem and they said they did not know and they could get mechanic in here to talk, they were really trying to avoid the question, eventually after talking with the fake part changing mechanic we figured out that first time i had truck there when they said they replaced all of the hoses turns out they only replaced some of the hoses..... and there was still one left with crack due to rotten.

Hope they used fuel-rated hoses, if it was the evap hose.
