Default Another 1st time `rango owner w/a few issues

It`s a `98 SLT w/5.2 engine.

First issue has been stopped, it was leaking antifreeze. Found it to be leaking above the engine thermostat. Bought a gasket & sealer....took that thing the top hose connects to, cleaned it, cleaned inside of hose(w/like a round jar cleaner), put`er back together & it leaked AGAIN. Ok, long story short(I Don`t type well!!!)....them Damn squeeze`em clamps suck. Put a REAL hose clamp on & FIXED!
I`ve got the dreaded "abs & brake light issue" going on! YES, I have read several posts, & most are blaming the rear speed sensor. I don`t know if this next info will help confirm, but me & my oldest daughter(turns 15 tomarrow) took it to town to put gas & play in the snow. So, about 5" on the ground & a little bit of ice Under that, started out freezing rain, we had`er in 4x4.....I hit the brakes & they LOCKED up. Of course, I let off the brakes. It is my 1st 4x4 but I know about sliding off into the ditch. Anyway, I thought maybe this bit of info Might help diagnose, to make sure that speed sensor IS the culprit?!?
The wind shield wiper resevoir is leaking out & dinging(lighting up the dash light)....& its got a PS leak also......I`ll get to them in time, I`m just trying to pick`em off MOST inportant too...ya know! Any & all advice, pointing at, is VERY much apreciated!!!....& Thank You in advance!!!.....GAS(Gilbert)

Are you sure you have 4 wheel abs? Rear wheel only was standard with 4 wheel being optional. I can't say too much about the lights being on, but it could be that sensor. People say a lot of the time that power steering fluid leaking and getting in wire harnesses can short things out and cause problems too.

yea i had the very same problem with ps fluid getting into the harness, but mine is a 4.7 , and i had a broken pressure sensor, that i think no other models have (could be wrong) the fluid soak my pcm, sensors, all of it, and it messed up the electrical system and lots of codes came in

you could check if your harness is not soaked with ps fluid

for the brakes,go first on the basics
clean nice brake fluid
bleed air from system if any
clean and grease brakes
check for seized cylinders
check for broken or disconnected cables on abs wires

if your fluid is old and dirty, probably is water in it (it absorbs water), and that's a bad thing, with low temp, can make your brakes fail a lot

note: when checking brake fluid, use disposable gloves and dont breathe the vapors from it, some say its ok, but i like to be safe

yes, it you have the ABS and Brake light on you need to replace the rear wheel speed sensor... As for the PS if its leaking the only way to fix it is to replace it. You could try using some of the repair in a can crap but its only gonna be a band aid if it even works at all.

BTW i have a son that turns 5 today.

Thank ya`all for your advice/input!
Old School, hope your son had a DANDY B`day!!!.....You being in Pennsy, I`ll bet he had snow to play in Too....LOL
Going to the big city tomarrow(our `lil town is ~700....& NOPE, we don`t even have a stop light....LMAO). AZ`ll give me my thermo tube & gasket sealer money back, but I`m buying that speed sensor(su3356), a fog light bulb, a couple 3057(No reverse lights coming on) & lastly, the headlight switch(1008, not sure if a duralast or value Yet)! The head lights have dropped on me a couple times, acting like, to me, theres a short in there. The COOL thing was that the 1 working fog light sure kept things from going PLUM dark!!!....I was on a US HiWay a couple times, course, Again...WE`re in rural country. Once again, Thanks All......GAS(Gilbert)
