Default durango 4x4 saved my ***

just felt like sharing this amazing moment i had with dodge and first noticed how much of diff 4x4 really makes.

my sister calls me she says she needs help, her whole street is flooded from rains (FL) and it was very deep needed e to pick er up. i went and i see soon as i turned on her street cars parked outside and rednecks sitting on their lifted f350's 150's , i asked em if they went thru, they said yea no prob just stay in mid and avoid grass. i was like with no exp as 4x4 whatsoever i asked em if i should put it in 1st gear and use 4x4? the said naa just go, so as an idiot i believed em and went in 2x4 and i lost track of the road and ended up in very deep spot water was almost up to the hood. my back tired spin together and i try to make sure not to let the gas pedal off, i felt my back side of the car come up and i was like **** im screwed. soo after holding gas peda i decided to switch it to 4hi even though i usally go neutral then switch 4x4 but i was like **** it , i switched it to 4hi and truck kinda budged on i saw all 4 wheels spin like **** and boom front 2 tires grabs the pavement and i dart out of there. but after this stupidity i did get 2 codes- 0480 and 2503, what do you think these codes r and im i really screwed?

Way to treat your truck..

Might as well go ahead and change out the differential fluids and check your half shafts. Odds are they are contaminated now due to driving in flood waters.

I sure hope you don’t try that again...

Ignore any negativity you might find here, some people are just downers.

4x4 will really make a difference. You double the amount of tires with power going to them. When in doubt, drop it into 4x4. The codes are posted above, so there's that answer. You can't use 4x4 on pavement unless you're going perfectly straight, due to binding up the drive train. Unless you have the 4HI FT (Full Time) option, in which you can drive around on pavement without damaging anything. You won't have any major effects from the water, but change your fluids anyway, grease everything back up, and check to see if you see anything out of the norm.

Which engine do you have anyway?

Gotcha, I live in a rural area where there are no bridge across the creeks, just pipes under the pavement. I get all sorts of codes when I get a** deep in water. I just change the fluids, re-grease, and they go away after a while. They never stayed on for me, but you also have a newer truck and engine. Only dodge of mine that didn't was my cummins, but that's that. I can't stand hitting deep water in my durango, for some reason, design I guess, I get my windshield covered in wake, and I can't see a thing unless I crawl through it. It comes up from the front tire I guess.

This might sound stupid but what exactly do I need to grease up?
