Default I'm gonna pull my hair out with this tranny

Alright lets see where I can get. 98 durango 5.2 w/ 44re trans(pk52119513ac). Currently is stuck in 3rd unless you manually shift though the gears (no O/D). I have replaced all the electrical parts in side the trans. was getting 753 and 743 codes. today was when i changed the governor pressure sensor and switch. did get 748 code but it cleared and so far has not returned. what else could cause it to not shift?!

or am I????

Have you replaced your Output Speed Sensor?

It's easy to figure out on your Trans if there is an electrical or hydraulic failure. Simply unplug the 8 point harness on the driver’s side and simply use the shifter. Of course you will not have overdrive. Make sure when coming out of park you take the shifter straight down and don't stop to get into 1st. If everything seems normal replace the Output Senor and you might want to try the Throttle Valve Cable Adjustment. I've written procedures on how to do all this in the FAQ sticky on the top of this section. Always remove the Negative battery terminal before working on it. Also it might help to do a full reset using the battery method after the part is installed.

The Output Sensor tells the Trans when to shift and is almost always the fix. Also usually if you loose either the speed sensor on the top of the rear differential or the trans it likes to take out the other so I recommend you replace them in pairs.

1. go to auto-zone. get 2210, its called a power steering filter, but it is for transs to. it is for 3/8 tubing. by (magna-fine) be sure to use high pressure hose. Reff:http://www.magnafilter.com
2. for other sizes wix 58964 5/16 tube size

Correct Mr. Moe. It’s easy to understand.

If the trans switches out of 1st and thinks it's going faster that 2nd then it can skip to 3rd. 1st and 2nd use the same band, think about it for a second. I've had this exact issue on many trucks, in fact I even did it to my own trucks.

For $40 bucks per sensor, its well worth the money spent. Besides its normal maintenance anyway. But hey what do I know; I'm just an old school mechanic that rips up most everything I want here. My record speaks for itself.
