What year Durango do you have?

Enter your info on one of these sites to be sure:

http://www.shocks.com/

http://www.shockwarehouse.com/index.cfm

Then compare prices there and also on Amazon.

Note that Amazon changes prices daily, so watch for a few days then strike "when the iron is hot".

My $0.02 says to stay away from Rancho shocks. Get KYB Monomax or Bilsteins.

If you go cheap on shocks you will end up replacing them prematurely, so spend the money on good shocks upfront and save yourself time and money in the long run.

I had RS 5000's on my Jeep for a while, thought they were crap. I have Bilsteins on the Durango (2nd set, first lasted 10 years). They cost more, but the wallet recovers quickly, then you get to have nice shocks for years.

What are you running now? Are you looking for "Cadillac Smooth" or something that rides like a truck?

These are the specified shocks for all years of the first generation Durango.

Also, if you go with the Bilsteins, be sure to mount the rears in the proper orientation. I have heard they are to be "boot down".

http://www.allshocks.com/t-faq.aspx#10

Do I mount the shocks with the boot pointing up or down? With the internal design of the Bilstein monotube gas shocks, it does not matter whether the shocks are mounted with the shock rod side up or down. There are some minor advantages in longevity and overall suspension effectiveness with the shock rod pointed down, and there are many instances where Bilstein has changed the orientation to take advantage of these minor improvements where there are no clearance problems. If there is an option, we recommend mounting the shock with the shock rod and boot pointing down, but in the grand scheme of things, there is no noticeable difference.
