There is the 'What did you pay' thread for all those sad souls who bought a used 1st gen (didn't get the wonderfulness of having it before then). Anyone else here besides me buy their 1st Gen new, and still has it?

In March/April 2001 I was visiting my mother in Detroit, had flown there on a cheap round trip ticket from home in NY. I didn't intend to buy anything, but had loved the Durango since it came out in '98. I spotted this one on April 1st, 2001 at a dealer on Gratiot Ave in Detroit. I drove it away the next day.

A couple days after picking it up, I blew off the return trip airplane ride and drove it 650 miles back to NY.

We did! Wasn't on a rack though. Had a friend that was the sales manager at the dealership and he had one picked out for us already. We get there and Wife didn't like the color, so they bring her another one (about $10K difference) and the rest is history.

Here's a new one. How many of us bought theirs twice? I'm about to. Got in an accident last month and their insurance is totaling mine! Get to buy it back for about $500.

That's not a buy back, just you get to keep it and they deduct it's junk value from the payout. I did that with my Jeep once. The title was never touched.

True. Nice. Hope mine stays clean as well. Amazing what a couple of dents will do. H3ll, even with 193000 on the clock, mine still looks and drives better than most on the roads!

Agreed. After I did the trans 18 months ago, then added the front to back Magnaflow 8 months ago, the thing is amazing. I'm looking for small things that could be improved, like where can I get the formed padding for the driver seat.

My parents bought mine pseudo new in 2000. It was a dealer demonstrator, so we were the first ones to have it, but it was technically used. I got it when I got my licence because they got a new Wrangler.
