I'm looking to have a 360 long block built for me. I have no place local to build it the only shops I could find online in my state are on the other side of the state and they wont build one in less I supply the engine. I have talked to a few of the shops on ebay but the ones I have talked to well only sell stock spec long blocks and I want a mild cam and maybe a little bigger bore and some P&P work. I want to be able to keep my stock engine and rebuild it and drop it in a power ram 50 for a street beater. so anybody know of a good shop that ships and has cores on hand?

 

Well the problem is going to be cash. There are some crate engines with performance builds but last I saw they were around $4500 or more but you get a brand new performance engine, not a rebuild.

You could get a good 5.9L from a junker and get a regular build done (talk them into boring it 30 over, install some 1.7 rockers, and do your own P&P on the heads. You could also look into new heads like Edelbrock with larger valves.

 

a bore job in and of itself won't add much more power over stock by itself; you only add like 6 cu in. Not enough to mean anything. You can get higher comp pistons in stock size just like you can in 0.030 over. ONLY bore as much as needed, you want the most meat left on the cylinder walls as possible. no need in or real benefit in boring it oversize "for teh he11 of it"
