help with cheap upgrades 5.2

A good old tuneup (plugs, wires, dist. cap, and rotor) will always help some, especially if it's been a while since they were done last. Switching to a 180° thermostat that the motors were originally designed for will make the motor happier too.
As far as added power goes a bored throttle body (stick with 50mm for the 5.2) is probably the most power per dollar. I paid right around $100 for mine, and it's supposedly good for around 10hp or so. I can't speak for exact numbers since I don't have access to a dyno, but the throttle response is much better and it seems like it might just pull a bit harder at the top of each gear.
