2003 Durango Transfer Case Issue?
Okay, my friend has a Durango. The front CV joint let go and the drive shaft is resting on the cross-member. His wife was driving it as the time and she also said the there was a lot of fluid that came out as well. Is this going to be a simple CV replacement or is there a inside seal that came out draining the Transfer Case? I was looking under there and that is no rebuilding that CV joint, it's definitely going to be a new Joint, but not sure if the transfer case is a problem now.

Sorry, I'm a little confused with your description and pictures. The CV joints go from the front wheels to the front differential. Transfer case attaches to the rear end of the transmission. The front differential connects to the transfer case with the front drive shaft which has a CV like joint at the transfer case. Your second picture shows (I think) the transfer case end of this drive shaft. The fluid his wife saw may be from a cracked transfer case which could have been caused when the front drive shaft joint broke. It is a bitch to change the transfer case!
