Default Speedometer not working

I just brought this used truck a few days again and the speedometer is not working. The ABS light is on and the check engine light is giving a code for speed sensor. I had the rear speed sensor replaced and still the problem is not fixed. the odometer is not changing either it is stuck at 157111. I need to drive this truck back home from MD to SC.

It has also cut off on me twice when getting off the hwy and turned right back over no problem.

I took it to NTB from them to run a diagnostic and they said I have to take it to the dealer because the problem is in the in board computer and dodge does not allow them to have the computer to read these errors....how much of that is bull.

I am a struggling Nursing Student that just needs a good vehicle to get around town.

Welcome to DF

First i'll say that i would not even take the car of my worst enemy to NTB. Basically what they told you is "we have no clue what we are doing, take it to the dealer".

So you say you replaced the speed sensor? what one? Our trucks have 2, one one the tail of the transmission and the other on the rear differential (rear wheels). Both are common failures and its said to replace both at the same time.

The speedometer is controlled (the signal) comes from the speed sensor on the rear differential and also triggers the ABS light as well. i would replace that if you have not already.

You also said that NTB told you there was a code for a speed sensor, Do you know what that code was? it should be something like a "P" fallowed by 4 numbers.
