Default Transmission Gasket or Not?

Hello To All & The Dodge Forum,
Thank you for allowing me to ask questions and get some great answers and knowledge.
I have a 2002 Dodge Durango, the 4.7 and the 45RE transmission.
My question is, Do I use a gasket or oil soluble grease or gasket with a recommended sealant?
I have a Haynes book, and it says no gasket on the 45RE or 545RE. Just to use a oil soluble grease.
I read the purge section, and i'm going that way for 145k miles on it now, I bought it at 110k, and not sure it was ever done. So if i do it, I will know.
It seems that there is different sides to the gasket or none. I did read the purge section, allot great advise.
There is a gasket on there now, I can see it when i'm under vehicle.
So any advice on gasket or non and just grease would be great. Any recommends as well.
Thank you

Hi,
My kit came with gasket as well. The Haynes book says to use an oil soluble grease on this tranny 45re and the 545re. Early models used gasket.
Than you for your reply, I will use the gasket. It has some good miles on it and i'm sure the metal is not like factory fresh.
Thank you again, have a good day.
