Today was a ****ty day, I went to sell my Durango and the perspective buyer wanted to test drive it. I wasnt worried because ive always maintained the truck in great shape, when the buyer asked about the 4x4 I told him I didnt use it but had the transfer case service to make sure it worked. Im not sure wtf the guy did he put the truck in neutral and engaged the 4x4 and tested it out. When he tried to put it back he couldnt get into 2wd again all he could do was engage the part time 4wd. The truck would move forward a bit and it would completely disengage, eventually we got it back to his house and turned it off. Bad idea cause the truck wont even crank now its like its suck in Drive. I had it towed to a friends house to try and repair. Any ideas would be great im pretty sad. Putting it in park, neutral or drive and trying multiple things was no help truck wont start.

I'd look at the transfer case shifter linkage, the grommets can dry out and break apart which lets the one rod fall out.

 

a bolt was missing from 4x4 shifter, and the selector was stuck in drive. fixed
