HELP! 2000 Durango 5.9L won't start
The PCM provides the coil ground (signal is slang). The ASD powers the coil positive. Of course the PCM closes ground to the ASD when the switch is on at all times.
Connect a test light to positive battery and to the ground at the coil (signal). It should pulse while cranking.
Connect the test light to battery ground and to ASD output. The light should come on when you turn the switch on.
However....IF you have a NO BUS, you probably won't get any results that will help you.
If my experiences serve me right, those internet PCM companies will try their best to prevent sending you out another PCM. I had a customer once, I think I had put their 2nd or 3rd on for them. The customer put me on the phone with them and this numbnut proceeded to tell me that they have the entire electrical system for THAT particular model on a stand that they use to test their PCM cores. I laughed, then sent him the printout of my diag tests over fax, including the scan tool snapshot. The customer got a refund and bought one from a parts store.
They're hoping you will cower and go away rather than pay 100-200 bucks to a good shop to diagnose it and prove them wrong. I'd say that's a pretty good bet on their part.
I have my reservations about these places even selling remans. Who knows where the heck they came from. There is no way they can claim their product is always good. Chrysler can't even do that with their reman PCMs.

Well All computer Resources is sending me another one without me having to return their defective one or my original core back yet, so least they're going to try to help. I sent them the model number of my original and they have my VIN and mileage on file so hopefully they will get a good one this time.
Well, 2nd computer sent in exchange from All Computer Resources also shows defective at the local Dodge service center and they are convinced it's still just the PCM. STAY AWAY FROM ALL COMPUTER RESOURCES in MIAMI FL. THEY SEND JUNK. I will have to fight for a refund as they say after they send an exchange, there can be no refunds. I will file for credit card fraud if necessary.
Now I've got to scrape together $440. for a PCM from O'Reillys or Autozone.
Why is it so damn hard to find a good PCM for the Dodge Dang-o?
