radiator and antifreeze
Have a 2001 Durango with a 4.7 motor. Have checked and noticed was low on antifreeze. Changed oil a few weeks ago and saw a drop or so of antifreeze on the lower hose, looks more like the housing. When i checked the antifreeze it is barely there on the hose. Is this bad or is it suppose to be like this?Could it be something else? thanks
There should not be any leaks. Running a 4.7L low on antifreeze is VERY bad as the heads are aluminum and the block is iron, they will blow the head gasket!!!!!
Might have to replace the housing, cap, or hoses.

Thanks i know that is bad to run a radiator low. I put almost 16 oz of water in it the other day. Used a empty soda bottle. I replaced the upper hose/cap Friday. It was leaking at the weepholes the nes one does not have weepholes or the spring inside of the hose
How hard will it be to put a new lower hose housing on? I ordered a new one and will be in Sunday. I will have to do this on the ground and never done a hosing on the bottom or have hose pliers. Any tips and know how long it could take? thanks
All you need is a good pair of pliers big enough to span the tabs to squeeze open the clamp. Maybe you get lucky and someone has replaced the stock clamps with screw clamps. Dont reuse the originals, even if you like spring clamps its a good idea to put new ones on when you replace them.
