Question Intermittent blower heat/air control

1st Gen 2000 Durango, 5.9
the problem started shortly after a heater core replacement, and if you know the job involved, what a headache, steering column, seats, center console, dash,
anywho, when I get up to speeds above 60 my blower works great, whether I'm blowing heat or air, but Ive made sure dash grounds are tight and grounding right, I would hate to have to pull everything apart, my mechanic swears the job is only 2 hrs to replace blower motor, it took me 2 days, I'm pretty savey so I think.
I think it could be one of three things, Vacuum, resistor, or bad blower motor,,
just had a new daughter born to us on Haloween and truly a Haloween pumpkin, so my extra money is tied up in diapers, formula, life..
I love my Durango, but I live in Wisconsin, and its not getting any warmer, I would love to hear any sound advice,
I just don't get why it blows and works fine running at high speeds, but not even a tricke idiling, plus my mechanic swears you don't need to pull instrument panel apart to change blower motor, again I changed the heater core myself, so what did I miss...thanks for any advice fellow Dodge enthusiasts.

Does it work fine on hi? If so I'd look at the blow motor resistor.
