Doors won't latch
On my '03 Durango, the rear doors sometimes will not latch shut if they are opened from inside. When this happens, the only way to make them latch is to lift the outside handle, let it go, and then shut the door. I have no idea what is causing this.
Lack of use of the back doors can result in oxidation on the moving parts that makes the mech not reset to accept the jam pin. I have had this problem and I noticed the seals at the top of the window compartment were letting too much rain into the door thus promoting the oxidation. Remove the interior door skin and lube up everything that moves when actuating the door handle.
dxloat, I wish my rear doors were not used frequently. That would mean my kids are all grown up and out of the house. 😀 But I will remove the skins and lube everything up. Have to take them off to replace the speakers anyway.
