Hey guy, im new to the site and have a 2002 durango slt, 4.7 liter and wanted to know how to tell if its the 16 or 32 tooth crankshaft as im doing an engine swap and wanted to make sure im gettin the right engine. Also how hard would it be to just jump to a 5.9 liter
Going from the 4.7 to the 5.2/5.9 would require replacing the majority of the electrical system. And I'm not 100% sure but I think 3 plug pcm is the 16 tooth and 4 plug is 32 tooth 4.7.

pretty much all the wiring under the hood is different, the engine and transmisison would need to change, you might need to change the transfer case (or at least the input splines), the wire harness, the PCM, the motor mounts. it just adds up fast, doable for sure, but probably not worth the time/money/aggravation.
