Default Intermittent Choke Problem?

My 2001 dodge Durango 4.7l runs strong except periodically, about every other day, it decides to stall at red lights, rev up and down repeatedly, and then starts to cut back when tach reaches about 2800 rpms while driving or while i rev the engine in neutral. While in this "mode" it is almost impossible to crank after stalling. The problem usually last for a few hours then suddenly the problem is gone and it runs like new again. Currently it's in the rough "mode" and i can't drive too far without it stalling and having to pull it home. Anyone have any suggestions? I took the throttle body off and cleaned but the problem remains.

Make sure the IAC valve on the throttle body is clean. Rest the computer. Make sure the battery connections are good and clean (disconnect and clean with a wire brush).

check the crank and cam sensor, they control ignition timing, if they are not reading properly the engine will run all sorts of poorly (if at all).

you could also try a bag of ice on the PCM to cool it down if this only happens after a drive where the PCM could be overheating and causing internal connectivity issues.

I'm about to install new camshaft position sensor since its the easiest of the two to replace. If problem persists, I'll replace the crankshaft sensor. I cleaned the IA control valve when I cleaned the throttle body but was told the would only affect how the vehicle idles and this problem happens whether at idle or driving. I will update as soon as i replace camshaft sensor and test. Thanks for the suggestions.
