Cool Heater core replacement

hey guys, I'm needing to replace my heater core, ive only had to change one before in a 95 s10 but I'm wondering, is it real difficult and am I going to have to pull the whole dash off or is there an easier way of getting to it. thanks

The heater core is inside a large airbox behind the dash, I can't imagine there is any way to get at it without removing the dash or cutting a big hole in your firewall. If you've done a heater core before the job will be familiar, not hard but involved. I've done this in a couple of vehicles and I would put this in the middle in terms of effort. The dash has to come apart, the steering wheel has to be lowered, but they've designed in some simplifying items like sliders that make the dash pad easier to slide in and out, and they've refrained from doing things like clipping the wiring harness to the pad which can make reassembly challenging. My recollection is that I knocked it out in a day.

This is a good how-to.
