Red face transfer caase rebuild situation

hi, I have recently bought a 2000 dodge Durango with a 4.7 from a family member. The Durango had a 231 transfer case that blew up. I have been reading a lot of forums from here and purchased a 242 from E-bay. I have rebuilt the case because you never know how the it was treated the first time. What I would like to know is if the oil tube was put in with the smooth side into the pump will it hurt any thing. I am asking because the transfer case has already been reinstalled. Your info will greatly be appreciated thank you.

Do you speak of the oil pickup tube, with one end on the floor of the t-case with a pickup screen on it and the other end a bend going into the pump? The tube can only go in one way. Just be sure the o-ring on the pump end was in place. Also, even though it's in the truck, you can pull the rear tail cone to get access to or replace the pump.

That's the one, mine had a small bend then a flat tube then another bend on the other side. that's why I didn't know which way until I looked on one of 242 rebuild PDF's.

I figure it should still work and I did put a new o-ring on it. But I just wanted to be on the safe side.
