Default Security system issues 99 durango

Keys got stolen so durango went to dealership to program new fob. They said their computer could not communicate with security system. Unlocking driver or passenger doors did not disarm system. New disarm switch in driver door and now waiting for some sort of relay up inside the dash. It has rebuilt pcm. Are these guys missing something or just taking me for a ride?

Cost has gone from 150 for fob to about 1000 and they don't sound very confident the relay will fix it.

If it was working normally before I'd try a different dealership. Tailgate should also disarm it.

Agreed. I've never had the factory alarm keyfob. Always has aftermarket alarm. Never disabled it. If my factory alarm goes off I just turn the key in the door and I'm good

Key in rear hatch has not worked for a while, can't get the tumbler to turn.

That's probably due to the key being worn. The dealer should be able to cut you a new key from the vin number.
