2002 Durango Shifter and transmission question
I have a 2002 Durango. My daughter drives this car and recently while at school she had the battery replaced at one of the Auto Parts Giants store. After replacing the battery, the digital shift indicator would light up on Park, Reverse, and Drive in that order and continue to go back in forth whether the actual transmission was in Park, Reverse or Drive. In other words it was a visual issue, not a transmission problem. They (Auto Parts Store) tried to help, but to no avail.
Fast forward four months and I recently noticed small amounts of transmission fluid on the driveway. After checking the transmission fluid, it was evident it was low (not critical). Other than the aforementioned issue with the digital shift indicator, there are no transmission shifting issues. Is the leak related to the previous problem? If not, then is the leak a cold weather related problem with a seal?
Thanks in advance!

the leak wouldnt be related to the shift indicator, that screams electrical problem loud and clear.
the leak could be any number of things, but without getting under the truck and seeing where its coming from its very hard (impossible really) to accurately say what the cause is.
P.S. the power steering system on your truck also uses transmission fluid.
