Default 44re to 46re swap

I have a 98 durango 4wd with 44re and I have a 46re from 2000 durango 4wd. So basically I want to pull the 44 and slap in the 46. Will it work and if so any tips. I'm pretty sure I will have to swap flexplate

The 5.9 (normally paired with the 46RE) is externally balanced while the 5.2 is not. Don't remember if it's the flex plate or the torque converter.

Default 98 durango 5.2 44re to 46 re swap

I know the torque converter is different so I believe it's the flexplate for 5.9 that I need to get

If the flex plate is what's balanced I think you want to keep the 5.2 flex plate on the 5.2.

I remember reading somewhere that the flexplate needed to be swapped. But I can't seem to find where I read that
