Question 2003 dodge durango key won't turn over - 4.7l AWD

does anyone have a solution that doesn't require banging on the key ?
---------------------------------------
hi - i am from toronto, canada
- 2003 dodge durango 4.7 liter, 2wd/4wd, automatic tranny -

i tried banging the key with a rubber mallet, whilst in the ignition, and works with all 3 keys i have, 2 w/ FOB, 1 w/o

i need to do 'banging' each time i start the vehicle
i can start the vehicle now WITHOUT the 'banging' BUT cannot get turn signals nor windows to work -

Replace the lock cylinder. You can get it at advanced auto and change tumblers for your keys. not a hard fix (Part No. 924-709)

If you are not going to do it yourself, how much you may pay to have the work done is dependent upon your location, we would have no idea. You'd have to check around your area at locksmiths and dealers to see what professional options are available.
