Rear Brake Noise
I have a noise that occurs after driving the vehicle for a period of time. It sounds like a rubbing noise/popping noise after the brakes are applied. The noise appears to come from the driver side rear drum not from the axle/shaft. It also made a clunking noise while backing the other day and it sounded like the adjuster was attempting to adjust the brake. The drums have been pulled and cleaned and nothing was noted to be out of place. This only occurs after a period of driving not when first starting out. The shop told me"we could try this and this" to rule it out but I can't afford to replace a bunch of parts. Also a note the rear fluid is good and fresh with the additive replaced. Also there isn't any obvious bearing damage or excessive movement. Anyone have any ideas?
Hmmmmm,
Maybe the drum has a ridge on it and needs to be replaced. If the shoe is rubbing then transferring over to the ridge and back which sounds like to me especially in reverse. The auto adjusters are flinging back as it shifts into the grove and back out. I would replace the drum and the shoes.
