Ok, so full disclosure... the reason I needed heads replaced was because I dropped/bent a valve while installing roller rockers, my bad. I pulled the heads to deal with that at a local speed shop. They said the two castings were cracked, said 1/2 are at that age, and new castings were $200 each. After having the bad valve replaced, all the other valves cleaned up and reground, new guides, and full assembly, the bill was $1,000. Not what may work in your situation, but I was tickled pink to have it done. I installed the rollers correctly on the new heads install and the motor is great since, two years now.

Yep, figured as much. I am going to have to come to terms with the fact it is worth more as a sentimental icon of better days when wrenching actually involved wrenches. Don't get me wrong, technology is great, when it works. Thanks again for all the info, guys. I will take it all under advisement and let you know what the results are. Terry : )

One last question. How about putting Magnum heads on a LA block ?? You all have convinced me that keeping all the electronics in operation would be advisable so I could I keep the top end Magnum and the bottom end LA ?? I understand that there are cam oiling issues going the other way. Thanks, Terry
