02 Durango 4.7 Knocking sound/water pump issue
Hello all, I', just signe up for this forum and have read a lot of different threads, love the help.
Here I go, bought an 02 dodge Durango about three months ago, engine light was on (Evap code), fixed it by replacing the left exhaust manifold gasket and several days of brain digging on it (had a puff sound). cleaned the fuel system by adding seafoam on the fuel tank and letting it soak thru the vacuum hose from the brake boost line over night, and adding injector cleaner for the next two tanks, changed spark plugs, oil filter and oil (royal purple) and a few weeks after a small knocking almost like the puff sound reappeared, noticed a small seepage from the same left side head cover gasket (have the gaskets on order), million dollar question. Should I replace the lifters (I suspect they might be going) or just the gasket?
On the other hand the main water pump began to drip from the pulley shaft (pump on hand), combining the previous issue with the pump, if you believe I should replace the lifters and the rocker arms too? all of this at the same time or focus on the pump first and ride out the knocking sound.
I ask about doing it all together because I've seen the video to replace the head cover gaskets and is a nut roll (tedious) but I can do it, is there a torque for the hardware?
Truck is 02' Doge Durango SLT,4.7L, 4X4, Automatic XMSN, with 185,000 miles.
