98 dakota 5.2 wont engage gears after engine swap

Default 98 dakota 5.2 wont engage gears after engine swap

put in new used engine of the same, but now will now engage gears - no movement at all. could I have damaged the tranny oil pump ?

Were you careful about the position of the torque converter? Did you make certain it was fully engaged before installing the engine? Did you check and make sure you bolted the torque converter to the flywheel?

Yes, you can damage a transmission if the torque converter is not properly seated when installing an engine.

spoke couple other guys incl. tranny shop.........my buddy may not had everything seated correctly. I haven't tore into the thing yet but that's what it appears like. Can the pump just be replaced fairly easy?
