Default 1999 durango questions

New here and have a few questions.

I looking to purchase my brothers 1999 5.9 4x4 SLT MAGNUM, but it has issues.

1) asking price $3,000? Kelley blue book is at $840 in excellent condition and 700 in great condition. He put 5,000 into it over the last year and fixed the major stuff.
2) A/C leak. Charge only lasts 1 day. Need to figure it out
3) heater core is out. Had to bypass just to keep coolant from entering the cab
4) Mystery coolant leak. Have to refill every day. The oil is not milky and no coolant coming from exhaust. It must be pooling up somewhere on the top of the engine and getting burned off
5) oil pan leak. Easy enough fix
6) needs 2 new front tires
7)170,000 miles.
8) the 4 wheel drive has not been used and using it could probably cause some issues.

Now we probably have a few more issues, but I only check the car out for 25 minutes. This is my brothers truck and his girlfriends dad is a so called mechanic and said he could get 3,000 for the car. I would probably pay 900 just to get a project going, but unless I'm missing something do you guys think its worth 3,000? No body damage and the inside is real clean.

Also on this coolant leak... has anyone experienced this issue? No coolant hits the floor, but it leaks somewhere and gets burned up. I am going to get a pressure gauge next week to see if I can find it.

Thanks

If all that is still wrong with it, where did the $5,000 go?

For $5K I could have put a crate engine in that truck. I wouldn't pay more than $1K for it.

He is young at 19 years old and didnt know any better. He never told me he was having issues like this. He has since bought a new mustang and the durango sits in the garage.

Yeah I wouldn't pay more than 1,000. There's not a lot of value in these Durangos. They go cheap. I picked mine up for $1800 5 1/2 years ago with far fewer issues than that. Mine still has issues as a lot of people on this forum are aware of. But these just aren't worth anything in the market. 4 Door Dakota's, which is what I actually wanted, were going for 4,500+ in the same condition/year as my Durango. But now I'm glad I have my Durango. Not much of a truck person I've realized.
