Default battery cables

Hi all,

My 2000 durange 5.2 has bad cables. PO put emergency terminals and sometimes the truck won't start unless I jiggle the cables or put vinegar on the terminals to remove the corrosion. Truck is from NY.

Where can I get replacement cables? any particular model or length?

measure the cables you have and go the store, they should be able to sell you the appropriate gauge and length of wire (i always order a little longer than i need, you can cut it down later) and some terminal ends and get to work. I am not sure what the gauge of the wire is but if you measure the diameter (under the insulation) you can check it against the cable charts.

(just google wire gauge size chart if that link doesnt work).

or call the auto store and ask if they have it (advanced auto/pep boys/autozone should have or be able to get a set of pre-built wires)

I've replaced several wires and got some terminals from O'Reily's. I got the terminals with 5/16 studs and wing nuts. Haven't had a single corrosion issue since. You NEED a good connection. Those terminals that you just shove the cables in and tighten down don't cut it. Don't waste your money. Spend the time and money and get it done right and you won't regret it. Good heavy terminals are the way to go
