Default mud colored coolant

Hi all,

My new to me dodge looks like it was heavily neglected. at least the coolant. It looks sewer brown. Yeah not pretty. I removed the lower rad hose, dumped the coolant and topped it up distilled and coolant. Came back brown. Did I not dump everything?

I put in a bottle of coolant flush and running it for a week. Whats the best way to get rid of all the old brown muck?

Flush it out with clean water from the garden hose. Let the water flow in one hose and out the other. You might need to flush the heater core separate as well as the radiator.

Yeah, I did the heater core last time... When you say in one hose and out the other? in from the lower and out from the upper?

I'd start with pulling the top hose and flushing through there. Biggest issue might be the thermostat.
