Default Would the check engine light come on for a misfire? Or bad fuel pump?

Seems to be another potential problem brewing and now I have to play 'guess the new problem.'

Today the Durango had two quick hard jerks going between 30 - 55 mph on the main road. No engine light though.

Misfire? Bad fuel pump? Transmission slippage?

The spark plugs are 2 years old so I'll start there.

Eventually it will when it gets bad enough.

I had platinum plugs once that burned the platinum tip off the plug. You could drive it without really noticing until you put a load on it, then it would jerk/miss until you let off gas. Or you could have a coil pack going bad.....those would be by first guesses, although auto diagnosis by forum is an iffy science.....it has made great strides. Oh, and yes, my check engine did come on...but not until it got worse.
