what is the proper way to shift into 4x4. I just have a switch that says 2 wheel and 4 wheel. there is no Hi vs Low that I can see. do U need to be at a full stop? this shows my 4 to 2 wheel drive switch
AWD can be shifted into 4WH at reasonable speeds, but 4LO requires to be stopped and transmission in neutral in my 03 AWD SLT +. I would be surprised if you had to be at a full stop, but I would not do it over 40MPH without a better answer than mine.
That looks like an nv133 that has no hi range, so it's just 2wd and what amounts to 4hi. It should be safe to switch under 40mph as long as you're not on the gas and spinning wheels. This is a locked mode so it shouldn't be used on the road unless it's completely covered in snow or ice though.
Top of the glove box, there is a detailed instruction manual for everything in your truck.
For my 03 R/T, it can shift on the fly anywhere from 0 to 40mph. Shifting from 4Hi to 4Low requires to be MOVING at less than 4mph. Shifting the Tcase into neutral requires the truck to be off, in neutral and still. Oh and a pointy item such as a pen.
