Default Wont start everytime

My 1999 Durango wont start everytime. This just started happening. I brought it in for a tune up and had battery the checked. It still doesn't start. It gives one "click" and thats it. The check engine light is not on. I try it 30 seconds or a minute later and it may start. I'm lost!! Any help is appreciated, Thanks!

Your starter is fried that’s a guarantee. Pull it out and have it checked. This is what happens when these go out. Classic example.[sm=bounceybounce.gif]

My 98 was doing the same thing this past weekend. I would turn the key and get nothing. If I shorted the posts on the starter it fired right up. Then the next time I would try starting it, it might work, or it might not. The battery "seemed" ok because the lights were bright and the horn honked.

I checked the battery to make sure it didn't have a dead cell or two because the lights and horn will work with a dead cell, but the starter might not. The battery was fine, just a little low on it's charge. Then I cleaned and tightened the connections on the starter solenoid and the battery. The bolt on the smaller starter post seemed a little loose.

So far it has started every time, but it's only been one day and ten or fifteen starts. I'll keep you posted.

I have the exact same issue. Seems that it only happens when the truck is cold. I have an after market starter in my durango and I thought that was the issue, but when I go to start it and it is cold, I get one click. But if I rotate the key from on to start, after a few times it will kick right over.
