Strange question
Hey all,
Well it finally looks like we might thaw out here in Northern Nevada and I'm itching to get to wrenching on my 2001 Durango SLT+ 4.7 engine (have posted prior about my woes...long story short need to pull the heads and check #8 cylinder possible stuck valve).
Way back in my misspent youth (early 80's) my family was strictly Found On Road Dead truck fans and we did our own engines (gotta love the 390 engine ) Last 390 we build for my grandfather's '71 F250 we used a weird sealant...it was a type of brush on sealant that if I recall correctly was made for aircraft engines...anyone recall this junk? The one thing that really stands out in my mind is that the ford engine we did, it was virtually free of any oil seepage/leaks...which is pretty much unknown for fords...I was wondering if it is still around and if I can use it on the Durango 4.7? I want to try and make this thing leak/seepage free if possible... I have a complete gasket kit for the head job and even grabbed a oil pan gasket as it appears that I'm getting seepage all around the engine...just going stir crazy until the weather clears up...no fun trying this stuff in 37 deg weather with a chance of rain.
Thanks in advance
Steve
