Default Front suspension & steering rebuild.

I’m looking rebuild my passenger side front steering and suspension due to the vehicle being stolen and damaged. The Durango is a 99 5.9 SLT PLUS and I was wondering if I am able to rob parts from my 2000 4.7 SLT (lower control arm and ball joint, torsion bar, sway bar, sway bar link, knuckle, hub, cv axle) any info would be greatly appreciated.

2000 was a changeover year for lots of parts, including front suspension. The lower control arms, knuckles, upper control arms, lower ball joints, entire steering setup, etc are all different.

Durangos are a dime a dozen in most U-pull it yards and you would easily find what parts you need there for the year you have, but...In my opinion, I rebuilt my entire front end on my 01 and you won't believe how bad front ball joints are from the factory. If your going to go that far.... go all the way and do a full rebuild on both sides, ball joints and tie rod ends. My suggestion is Moog parts. The factory uses a plastic cup and metal ball which wear out quickly as a Moog uses a metal ball and metal cup which last much longer. If you ever have a chance to see a cut away of stock vs. Moog there is no comparison. Do some youtube research....Yes they are a bit pricey but well worth the piece of mind. I also did a full on rebuild on my 02 3500 ram...One word here you need the right tools (ball joint press) to do this and it does get a little complicated. Pressing ball joints out is not for the faint of heart. They will be rusted into place...it takes a lot of force to get the old ones out. On the new ones, I used an anti seize as the lube and rust prevention and they go in easily. Not sure if this is ok, but I used Summit Racing as my parts supply. Hope this helps you in the right direction....KK

Moog has multiple product lines. The problem solver parts are good, the rest are cheap ****. Problem solvers have part numbers starting with CK or K. RK is the cheap ****. Mevotech supreme and terrain tough seem to be good parts too.
