Default It never ends. Fuel door issue now.

My fuel door has been stiff for years. I finally got around to spraying it with some lube and now it has no tension and it flops around. I pulled it off to see the pin for the hinge is rotted in to 2 pieces and the spring rotted in half. I can get these from a yard but they are anywhere from 25 to 80 bucks and most will have at least some rot on them. The bracket is fine just the pin and spring. I'm going to see if I can find a bolt to replace the pin and I was wondering if anyone has tried using one of these on their vehicle.

So just a warning, that spring is about 4 times larger than the factory spring and will no way shape or form fit. Looks like a junkyard visit for me. You can currently get a brand new OEM door assembly from rock auto for about 70 bucks but you'll have to paint it. If I can't find one at a yard in decent shape that's the route I'll take and just use the spring. I already replaced the pin with 2 6-32 stainless steel screws and lock nuts so that will never rot again.
